I spontaneously booked 10 days in Portugal to do a solo female road trip from Porto to Lagos and back to Porto. I couldn't recommend it more for a woman travelling alone as the country feels incredibly safe. Portugal was more beautiful and amazing than I could have imaged filled with gorgeous coastline and welcoming locals. Follow along on my epic 10 day road trip and I hope this inspires you to travel Portugal!
Stops:
1. Porto - day 1 fly to Porto and spend one night to pick up car and head out on an amazing adventure!
2. Aveiro - day 2
3 Peniche - day 3
4. Nazare - day 3
5. Ericeira - day 4
5. Lagos - day 5, 6, 7,
6. Porto -- day 8 (drive back to Porto) Day 9 - explore Porto and day 10 fly back to London.
I only stayed in Lisbon on this trip to sleep and spend the evenings exploring. I hardly touched the surface of the city and definitely plan to go back to have a proper weekend to spend getting to know the city. When you have a car, go to the places you wouldn't normally be able to! It allowed for so much freedom.
Tolls: There are lots of tolls when driving in Portugal and the car rental company will typically have the car set up so you can directly be billed on your credit card after your trip.
If you have any questions let me know! I will also be doing a blog post which I will link in here when finished :)
