Under the auspices of Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT), a highly successful 5th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly was organized on February 11th and 12th 2020 at the UN Headquarters in New York in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and close collaboration with the Permanent Missions to the United Nations of Portugal, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Uruguay, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Montenegro, San Marino, Slovenia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Philippines, and Zambia, as well as the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), International Labour Organization (ILO), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
High-level panels of experts from around the world deliberated STEM women participation and facilitation of socio-economic sustainable development. The discussions were themed around driving investment in equality in science, technology and innovation in the digitalization era for inclusive green growth with special focus on agriculture, technology and digital economy.
In this segment, AWIS New Jersey President Dr. Kamana Misra, a scientist on the entrepreneur trajectory, represented AWIS, reiterating AWIS agenda of parity in pay, promotion and participation for women in STEM.
