BLACK PORTUGUESE JEWS WERE THE TARGET OF THE INQUISITION

The common assumption is that the Jews targeted during the Inquisition were white in appearance, but that's not what history says. The majority of historical texts that mention race, conclude that the Spanish and Portuguese Jews were originally black when they were deported to West Africa during the Inquisition.
