Death and Rebirth | Art Inspired by the Afterlife

My name is Mónica Neubert.
I'm 42 years old.
I was born in 1974, year of the "carnation revolution".
I'm from Portugal, but I consider myself a Citizen of the World. During my teenage years, I spent my time in school, reading, learning new things, studying music, learning French, English and Spanish. I worked in the local bars, I was part of a successful soccer team, I had a band and was writing for a newspaper as freelance journalist. I met amazing people.
Later I become a Model and a Firefighter. One of the first women in my country, to be accepted for the job in that corporation of volunteers. It was such an honor.
During college I wrote a book, I planted several trees, I had my beautiful daughter, I was working in the hospital, I was part of the student choir, I had a farm with several adopted rescued animals and I was doing my volunteer work. As usual.
I traveled to some countries such as Spain, France, Belgium and Germany. Me and my twin spent summer vacation there, by the age of 16, working for health clinics. It was an awesome experience and through it, I've gained many new friends.

I have a high degree in social work/education. It was the best 7 years of my life. I worked in several important humanitarian projects. Professionally I was part of a fabulous multi disciplinary team, working with families and at risk children. Protecting the children and educating the parents was our main goal.
It was my dream job. I worked really hard to get there and I had it.

Volunteer work is my passion as Arts are. I love Art in all forms and shapes.
I have friends from all over the world, whom I consider my brothers and sisters. I miss them dearly.
I left my dream job, my friends and family, to follow my husband to the USA.
He's an amazing guy. And my daughter is super smart kind girl.
Although life here in the USA is completely different from my Country - Portugal -, I found ways of being useful: helping others to be happy.
I'm a very determined woman, Feminist, animal and earth lover, resilient, fighter, Human rights activist, open minded survivor, with a good sense of humor. I'm very positive person, who runs very fast from drama.
Since my "near death experience " things changed in my life. For he better. I'm not afraid anymore and my priorities are living life to the fullest.
And have time to paint my "women in scarfs".
Because I truly believe in the Power of Love.
