Girls can do anything! That's the message that Melia wants to give the audience, addressing the issue of lack of confidence in young girls. Melia is a 5th grader at the ABC. Her favorite topics in school are guided reading, math and english. She moved to El salvador when she was 9 years old and she just turned 11 yesterday. Melia has a very strong passion about basketball and has played on ABC’s team for 2 years. She was born in Hawaii. She has moved around all her life. She has lived in Hawaii, Kazakhstan, Botswana, Virginia and Vietnam. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
