Madeira Fireworks 2021 - [Sneaked into a Soccer Stadium]

Sneaked into the Madeira soccer statium and watched the new years fireworks from the top of the reflector (2021)

Running away from all the craziness of 2020, I decided to relocate to this beautiful island in Portugal called Madeira. Among many things, it’s famous for its new year's firework show. Little did I know that they hold the Guinness world record. So it’s no surprise many people visit the island around this time of the year.

Unfortunately due to the pandemic, my best mate couldn’t visit me for Christmas so spending that and new years on my own didn’t make me too happy.


Having no plan a day before the last day of the year, I got lost cycling around the city and bumped into a soccer stadium. I always had a passion for climbing things so the big reflector got me mesmerized. I managed to sneak in and decided that I might come back later another night to climb the reflector. And the next day it hit me. I can watch the new years firework show from the top.

The next day I met a friend who invited me to a party. I told him about my crazy idea and he confirmed that I’m insane. Messaged a few locals and they all said the same. But the reflector and this challenge was still calling me. There was something inside of me convincing that it’s gonna be something I’d remember for the rest of my life.
