"They love us & we love them" Portuguese town welcomes Palestinian-Iraqi family

In September 2015, the mayor of Batalha, a small town in central Portugal, decided it was time that his community help refugee families. He called together the local factories, and the head of education and healthcare for the municipality, and proposed that their town take in two families. He knew that, for resettlement to be successful, it would have to be a community effort. Six months later, a Palestinian-Iraqi family were informed they would be resettled there.
